Reinventing Journalism in L.A.  OurLA is the news and information website for Los Angeles where everyone can be a reporter and exercise the right to free speech, learn from each other and get the benefit of the work of professional journalists as we work together to reinvigorate the civic and political culture of LA.
OurLA is a powerful force to inform and energize the community about issues that matter to our lives, our neighborhoods and the city as a whole. The decline of mainstream media -- radio, television and newspapers -- has created an exciting opportunity to create a new model for how we get our news and share information. Corporate journalism is out-of-touch from the everyday life or ordinary people. OurLA is our chance to do something about it. Its success depends on you as full participants and not just consumers of news. Participation is Key At OurLA, our members are the reporters and bloggers. Participants create forums and help evolve the website into the one place on the Internet where all the important news of LA can be found and quickly accessed. OurLA is a nonprofit organization run by former Daily News editor Ron Kaye along with a small number of paid and volunteer professionals. With your help we will manage the site by bringing together available content from community websites and blogs and the mainstream media as well as provide in-depth stories on important topics. OurLA belongs to you. Help make it a success with your active participation.  How do I join OurLA?
Joining OurLA is easy. There are no membership fees or participation requirements. All you have to do is sign up. Once you have chosen a user name and password you can login and use the website to whatever degree suits your interests. You can write stories or contribute photographs and video. You can submit events and items to the OurLA calendar. You can share story ideas and tips, comment on posted items, as well as create forum topics and contribute to discussions. Located in the upper right hand side of the site you will see links to login and register.
Clicking on the “Register” link will take you to the sign up page where you can enter your information.
Once you have registered you can begin submitting news and information to the site.  Submitting News/Information
The submission process is simple.
To submit stories you must be registered as an author.

To submit news or other items you must login through the front page of the site.
Once you are logged in you must click the “submit” link within the user menu and fill out the provided form.
